Mohammad Ali Jinnah

Galvanized by the brand of nationalism that "Gopal Krishna Gokhale" promoted in Bombay, Mr. Jinnah saw himself as being called "Muslim Gokhale". In 1913, he joined the Muslim League(organization to voice the interests of India's largest minority, The Muslims). In the next 3 years, he became the president of Muslim League.

Q) Why did Mr. Jinnah quit #Congress?

#Gandhiji returned to India and took the #leadershipcharge of the Congress Party and under his guidance, he launched "#NonCooperationMovement" which meant Indians to boycott everything to do with British rule in 1919. Mr. Jinnah opposed the rule and on this ground resigned from the Congress. Till 1919, Mr.Jinnah worked hard towards uniting Hindu Muslim which strengthened his picture in India. He was also called "The best ambassador of Hindu-Muslim Unity" by Gokhale. Also, going against Gandhiji pushed him closer towards the Muslim League.

Q) Why did Mr. Jinnah move back to London even after being an image?

After the rise of Gandhiji from the "Non Cooperation Movement" and also building a saint like image for both the community, Mr.Jinnah found it difficult to match up with him. Meanwhile many Muslim leaders have joined Congress cause of Gandhiji influence. Mr. Jinnah realized that his own political motto's were becoming incongruous with that of opposition parties. Mr.Jinnah motto's were calculated as too nationalistic to protect and promote the interest of Muslims by the Muslim leaders. His "#HinduMuslimUnity" became a handicap for his political career. After all this, he was frustrated and he left the country to pursue his career in London. As Gandhiji was so influential among the community, the Congress party became more dominant and this lead to often underestimating Mr.Jinnah and his motto.

Q) Which was priority: Independent State to be formed for minority or Independence as a United India?

As evolution of a national government gained currency in 1935, Mr.Jinnah saw it as an opportunity to once again shot and convert leadership of the Muslim community of India.

#BiggestMistake That Congress Did : The Congress party did remarkably well in the provincial election of 1937, but the Muslim league also did well in the seats reserved for Muslims, not losing a single seat. Even then, Congress flatly refused to form provincial government in coalition with the Muslim League in the areas where the latter had some presence. This in all the six provinces, the Congress formed the government without the Muslim League.

This soured relations between the Congress and the Muslim league further and just 3 years later, the league adopted its famous declaration at its Lahore meeting that demanded the #partitionofIndia and #creationoftheMuslimstateofPakistan.
