India was in a desperate need for a dependable death over bowler. No one was able to fulfill that position. But No one knew we had one in making! Jasprit Jasbirsingh Bumrah is an Indian player playing for the Indian national Cricket Team and one of the best finds for the Indian Cricket.
Early Years :
Today, A greater part of any conversation involving Bumrah mostly revolves around his uncanny actions. The basis of these actions came from him playing indoors as a child.His mom would not let him go out and would let him play inside only when he creates less noise. He chose to use the floor skirting as his target and started practicing his bowling on that not aware of the fact that this technique would take him to Indian National Cricket Team one day.
At the age of 14, jasprit expressed for the first time to his mother that he wanted to be a bowler. His Mother, being a single parent did not let go of her child's dream and encouraged him in all fronts to learn the game. He started his career bowling for the Gujarat's U-19 Cricket team. In the domestic circuit he kept on playing but the first Shine that Jaspreet showed was in the 2012-2013 Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy which was his T20 debut too. He won the Man of the Match trophy in the T20 game against Maharashtra and helped his team reach the winning line. In the finals of the same tournament, Jaspreet 3/14 played a crucial role in clinching the trophy from Punjab's Hand. This also brought him in the eyes of John Wright, the coach for Mumbai Indians who had come in sought of rare talents. This ‘different’ bowling style impressed Him very much. Jaspreet quick arm actions made it really difficult for the batsman to predict the delivery hence always working in favour of him. Bumrah created trouble for any batsman at the Ranji Level itself ever since he debuted.
International Debut:
IPL :
This Kind of performance was sure to bring in some good things for bumrah and it did too.
He caught the eyes of IPL Franchise Mumbai Indians and they bought him for the IPL Season in 2013. His match against Royal Challengers Bangalore got him much applaud were even after getting hit by three boundaries in his first 4 balls, he managed to finish with a 3 for 32 grabbing the challenger’s one of the best, Virat Kohli's wicket too. For all the subsequent IPL seasons, bumrah has always been the go to man for the Mumbai Indians team. Whenever Mumbai needed a wicket, bumrah has always shown that he is trustworthy. In the IPL wins of Mumbai too, he has a crucial role to play.
Jaspreet has an unique style of bowling. He bowls in a way that his non bowling arm comes straight at 180 degrees to generate momentum for his bowling arm supported by his beautiful wrist position, the batsman is not able to read the delivery and hence gets ducked.
Being in the company of bowlers like Lasith Malinga and Glen Mcgrath helped Jaspreet a lot understanding the nuances of his unique technique and he continued getting better. His unorthodox actions went on to be the trump card for Mumbai Indians. You want wickets,bring in Bumrah .. it is as simple as it sounds.

International career:
With brilliant performance in the IPL seasons and an amazing Ranji Trophy season in 2015-2016, it was inevitable that the National Team selection is a call away. and it did come in January 2016 as Jaspreet travelled with the Indian Team to Australia as a replacement to Injured Mohammed Shami making his International debut on the Sydney Cricket ground. This tour came as a celebration for him where he was the center of India's performance and finished the T20 series as a highest wicket taker. He took 2 for 40 in his ODI Debut and 3 for 23 in his T20 Debut to announce the world what he is. At the end of the tour, Captain Dhoni called him the Find of the tour. This performance also got him a place in 2016 World Cup as well as made him the number 2 ranked T20 bowler for 2016.
After all these amazing performances, Jaspreet is considered as an excellent player for limited over matches. However The test matches are something which proves the core of a player. Jaspreet was not behind in making his mark in this format. For the English tour that currently Indian Cricket Team is on, he was unfit for the first 2 test. After coming back from the injury, his performance in the ongoing third test against England showed that this young Lad has much more to offer. He is definitely somebody to watch out for.
Injuries :
With such a talent, it is very upsetting to see that Bumrah's physical condition has not been able to support him constantly. At the end of the year 2014, he had to be out of the playing circuit due to his left knee injury and that ultimately delayed his international debut by 1 year. for the ongoing series with England too, he had to out of few games due to health issues.
His body needs a complete rest to recover and we wish him a speedy recovery!
Bumrah is going to make his World Cup debut in 2019 CWC 19 and doubtlessly he is going to be one of the crucial players in the squad. He is one of the best limited overs bowler right now with the Indian Team and He needs to be utilised to his full potential for the World Cup.India would need this 24 year old boy to mesmerise everyone with his performance.
